When John Hinderer bought a Honda dealership in Heath, Ohio from an existing dealer in 1991, it was in the middle of a wheat field. The business wasn’t faring very well and Honda wasn’t sure the location would bring in much traffic – after all, it hadn’t before. Well, John subscribed to the ‘if you build it, they will come’ school of thought, so he moved forward and started anew at the original location at 1010 Hebron Road. Coming from the banking business, and then an account executive for WBNS-TV, John was a little worried about moving out on his own. At the same time, though, he was excited for this new opportunity, selling the best thing available: the Honda brand.
Soon after, John found he had the aptitude for selling Hondas! He moved up the road a tad to 1515 Hebron Road in 2000. He got some help when the road in front of his business was widened and prospective Honda buyers started making the drive to Heath. John’s current campus now also features the Power Store, selling motorcycles, ATVs, watercraft, scooters and utility vehicles. If it’s got wheels, John Hinderer’s campus has it! He also has some loyal staff who’ve enjoyed the ride and are still part of Hinderer Honda from its early days.
Through the years, Central Ohioans have counted on John Hinderer and his staff to provide friendly, courteous and professional service. If you know John, you know that’s the way he does business. John Hinderer Honda feels strongly about giving back to the community that surrounds its campus, too. That’s an important aspect of John’s business: giving back. John Hinderer Honda has given back to more than 80 worthy causes. Included among the group is the American Red Cross, Big Brothers, Big Sisters, Granville High School, Licking County United Way, North Newark Little League, Ohio Cancer Research Associates, Union County Health Department, and 4-H Clubs.
